The Take a Chance Project
About Take A Chance

TAKE A CHANCE is all about empowering and enabling young people and teens between ages 8 and 16 to achieve their dreams, whether it’s in sport, performing arts, music, education, your career, or anything you want to accomplish.

We offer coaching and mentor programmes, scholarships and monetary contributions to assist young people between 8-16 develop the skills and get support to achieve their dreams.

TAKE A CHANCE was set up by Christchurch school girl Lucia Kennedy when she was 12 in 2011. Her vision is to help people achieve their dreams, celebrate their talents, strive to succeed and create inspired communities where people are being champions for each other.

After experiencing big challenges in pursuit of her dream to be a world famous tennis player, Lucia said ”people told her she would never make it, that her dream was stupid, and she wasn’t good enough.” Her inspiration and motivation for fulfilling her dream was turning into sadness and failure, especially after her family lost her house in the earthquakes and friends lost their lives. So she set up TAKE A CHANCE Foundation. She built a website, created a book Dreams Beyond Fantasy, co-wrote the TAKE A CHANCE motivational song with Christchurch Band Duchess Swift, even engaged YouTube, Gigabyte/Intel and famous people to be mentors.

TAKE A CHANCE has some big supporters and we invite you to join the journey, whether you apply for a mentor programme, become a mentor, enter competitions, share your dreams, buy our products to pay for someone to receive a TAKE A CHANCE coaching programme or scholarship.

TAKE A CHANCE is run by kids for kids with a little help from friends.
